WANA (Apr 04) – Multiple explosions were reported in the special petrochemical zone of Mahshahr Petrochemical Zone, Khuzestan Province, according to local reports.

 

Witnesses said several blasts were heard in the area, with smoke seen rising from parts of the complex.

 

The exact location of the explosions and the extent of the damage have not yet been confirmed.

 

A security official from Khuzestan Province said that at 10:47 a.m., three impacts and powerful explosions occurred in the area. Emergency and firefighting forces have been dispatched to the scene.

 

According to initial assessments, in an air attack by U.S. and Israeli forces on Mahshahr, the Fajr 1 and 2 petrochemical companies, Rijal, Amirkabir, Abu Ali Petrochemical, as well as parts of the special economic zone, were hit.

 

Based on a decision by the emergency command committee of the Mahshahr Special Economic Zone, all personnel from active industrial units in the area have been fully evacuated.

 

The official added that there is a high likelihood of casualties and injuries among civilians.
