WANA (Apr 10) – The cyber group “Handala” has announced the release of extensive information on senior officers of Israel’s Unit 8200, stating that it has disclosed the identities of 80 key members of the unit’s highly classified “Iran Desk.”
According to a report by Fars News Agency, the group said it has published a full list of names, photographs, and personal details of these officers. The individuals are reportedly based primarily at the highly classified Base 042 in Rosh HaAyin, a facility considered a central hub for Israel’s cyber operations, information technology, and cognitive warfare activities targeting Iran and allied groups.
The report indicates that these officers are not limited to traditional intelligence roles but are also involved in designing and implementing advanced technological projects. These include developing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to identify and track Persian-speaking targets worldwide, building big data analysis systems to monitor cyberspace, and conducting offensive cyber operations such as hacking and infiltration of critical infrastructure and communication networks.
Their responsibilities also extend to large-scale psychological and cognitive operations aimed at influencing public opinion, as well as establishing cyber espionage networks and managing both human and automated digital assets. A significant number of these officers reportedly possess advanced technical expertise along with strong proficiency in the Persian language, playing a direct role in behavioral analysis and targeting of Iranian users.
Handala further stated that, beyond revealing the identities of these individuals, it has also tracked and documented their locations, communication channels, and specialized digital toolkits.
