FIA Corrects Name to “Persian Gulf” in Official Content
WANA (Nov 29) – Following persistent efforts and official correspondence by the International Committee of the Iranian Automobile Federation, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has corrected a previous error regarding the name of the Persian Gulf and published the accurate term in its official content.
In a statement, the Public Relations Department of the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran said:
“The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), following official letters and timely follow-ups by the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has corrected the incorrect reference to the Persian Gulf and published the accurate version in its media content.
This correction was made after formal correspondence and persistent efforts by Aram Martrosian, Head of the International Committee of the Federation. The correspondence took place within the framework of professional interaction and mutual respect between the two federations and was promptly addressed with the constructive cooperation of FIA’s Communications and International Relations department.
The Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran appreciates the FIA’s responsiveness and the correction made, and emphasizes the importance of using correct geographical and historical names in international media content and documents. The Federation will continue to pursue this process through close collaboration and official communication.”
Previously, Iran’s Motorcycle and Automobile Federation had formally objected to the use of an incorrect name for the Persian Gulf in media content attributed to the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), calling for an immediate correction and adherence to internationally recognized geographical names.
