WANA (Jul 01) – Iran’s senior negotiator has announced that specialized working groups tasked with implementing the recent memorandum of understanding and preparing negotiations for a final agreement have been established, although formal negotiations have not yet begun.

 

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, made the remarks during a visit to Doha, where he led a delegation including representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the Central Bank of Iran, and the Ministry of Agriculture.

 

During his meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the two sides reviewed progress in implementing the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the recent conflict, discussed obstacles to its implementation, and explored ways to accelerate its execution.

 

The discussions also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, addressing remaining challenges, and advancing provisions of the agreement, particularly those related to Lebanon. Following the bilateral meeting, senior negotiators from Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan held a trilateral session to assess the implementation process.

 

Speaking to reporters after the meetings, Gharibabadi said the day’s discussions were primarily focused on monitoring the implementation of the memorandum.

 

He revealed that working groups responsible for overseeing implementation and negotiating a final agreement have already been formed. However, he emphasized that no negotiations have yet taken place within these frameworks.

 

According to the Iranian negotiator, mediators are continuing consultations to determine the time and venue for the talks. Formal negotiations within the working groups will begin once the necessary arrangements have been finalized.

 

The announcement suggests that diplomatic efforts are entering a more structured phase, with technical mechanisms now in place ahead of the next round of negotiations on a comprehensive final agreement.
