WANA (May 30) – Roughly five personnel were injured and at least one MQ-9 Reaper drone was destroyed following an Iranian ballistic missile strike on the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Bloomberg reported today, citing an informed source.

According to the American news outlet, the Iranian ballistic missile attack caused minor injuries to several Americans and inflicted severe damage on two MQ-9 Reaper drones, each valued at approximately $30 million.

The development follows a statement issued Thursday by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding maritime developments in the waters of southern Iran earlier that morning. CENTCOM claimed Iran had launched a missile strike against Kuwait, labeling it a “gross violation of the ceasefire.”

According to the Bloomberg report, which cited an anonymous source, Kuwaiti air defenses successfully intercepted an Iranian Fateh-110 missile. However, debris from the intercepted projectile struck the U.S.-operated Ali Al Salem Air Base.

The source noted that about five individuals, including both military personnel and contractors, sustained injuries. One Reaper drone was completely destroyed, while at least one other was heavily damaged.

In a counter-statement issued Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had targeted the U.S. air base after identifying it as the launch point for an earlier American aggression.

According to the IRGC, the U.S. military had carried out an early-morning strike using aerial projectiles against a location near the Bandar Abbas airport.

The IRGC described its missile strike as a serious warning to the enemy, declaring that no aggression will go unanswered. The statement added that any future provocations would face a more decisive response from Iran, and that the responsibility and consequences of such actions would rest entirely with the aggressor.
