WANA (Jul 03) – Foreign political and diplomatic delegations began arriving in Tehran on Friday to participate in tribute and farewell ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, joining a growing number of international participants attending the events.

 

Officials and representatives from multiple countries were welcomed by Iranian authorities upon their arrival in the capital, where tribute ceremonies and related events are being held with the participation of both domestic and international guests.

 

Among the visiting figures, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, National Leader of Turkmenistan, arrived in Tehran to attend the farewell and tribute ceremonies. Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi also arrived at Mehrabad Airport leading an official delegation.

 

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also traveled to Tehran at the head of a delegation to participate in a tribute ceremony designated for foreign guests. In addition, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Congo and Igor Sergeyenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus, arrived in Tehran to attend ceremonies related to the farewell and funeral events.

 

Nuriddin Ismailov, Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Parliament, also joined the gathering, while Iranian officials stated that additional foreign representatives and international figures had arrived in Tehran in recent hours and days.

 

According to reports, a group of academics and intellectuals from India, Russia, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia gathered at Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran, where they expressed condolences and paid tribute to Iran’s late Supreme Leader.

 

Additional international participants who had arrived earlier included the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a delegation from Lebanon’s Amal Movement, Nicaragua’s Foreign Minister, and a high-level Chinese delegation led by a senior representative of China’s National People’s Congress.

 

Among the latest arrivals, Yermek Kosherbayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, also arrived in Tehran to participate in ceremonies honoring Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Marlen Mamataliev also traveled to Iran at the head of a parliamentary delegation and was received upon arrival by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament.

 

Iraqi President Nazar Amidi was also among the foreign leaders arriving in Tehran to attend ceremonies honoring and paying tribute to Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili arrived in Iran and was received by Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology upon his arrival.

 

Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reached Iran on Friday leading a high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region to attend funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 

Khalil Hamdan, a senior member of Lebanon’s Amal Movement, traveled to Iran as a representative of Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker to participate in farewell ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader.

 

Qatar’s Parliament Speaker also arrived in Tehran to pay tribute to Iran’s late Supreme Leader and participate in the ongoing ceremonies.

 

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz arrived in Tehran to take part in farewell ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 

An Omani delegation also reached Tehran to attend funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader and was received upon arrival by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

 

Pakistan was also represented by a high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Tehran to participate in the official tribute ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 

Pakistan’s participation also expanded with the arrival of Army Chief General Asim Munir, who reached Tehran to attend the tribute ceremonies and was received by Iran’s Interior Minister and the acting Minister of Defense upon arrival.

 

India, meanwhile, sent a delegation headed by retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain, the Indian government’s special envoy for the farewell ceremonies. The delegation also includes Pabitra Margherita, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, along with senior officials from the country’s foreign ministry.
