Foreign Ministers of Iran, Egypt, and Oman Meet in Oslo
WANA (Jun 11) – High-ranking diplomats from Iran, Oman, and Egypt convened for a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 22nd Oslo Forum, held in the Norwegian capital.
The meeting brought together Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty.
In this meeting, Abdel Atty underscored Egypt’s priority in ensuring calm, preventing further escalation in the region, and rejecting any military solutions to regional crises.
He expressed Egypt’s support for the ongoing negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
According to the statement, Egypt’s top diplomat was briefed on the assessments of the Iranian and Omani foreign ministers regarding the Iran-U.S. talks and praised both Iran and the United States for their commitment to continuing dialogue through diplomatic channels.
Abdel Atty also commended Oman’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States and reaffirmed Egypt’s support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving mutually acceptable solutions, bridging gaps in viewpoints, de-escalating regional tensions, and strengthening security and stability in the region.
Earlier, in a trilateral meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister and Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held in Cairo, Abdel Atty had also emphasized Egypt’s support for negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Araghchi arrived in Oslo early Wednesday to participate in the forum, which focuses this year on key developments in West Asia.
In a high-level panel discussion, the Iranian diplomat joined his counterparts from Oman, Egypt, and Norway, as well as the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to discuss regional dynamics and diplomacy amid ongoing geopolitical shifts.
