WANA (Jun 01) – On Saturday evening, June 10th, Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that plans are underway for Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to visit Egypt and Lebanon.

Highlighting the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations and coordination with regional countries, Baqaei emphasized that Araghchi’s visit aims to hold discussions on bilateral ties, consult on the latest regional developments—particularly the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories—and engage in talks on international affairs.

According to Baqaei, the visit is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of this week, during which Araghchi will meet with senior officials in both Egypt and Lebanon to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.

Continuation of Regional Diplomacy

Mohammad Hossein Soltanifar, head of Iran’s Interests Section in Egypt, stated that Araghchi’s visit to Cairo is part of a broader regional diplomatic tour undertaken in recent weeks.

He noted that the Foreign Minister had already visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, and said: “In the same context, he will travel to Egypt—an influential country with a rich history and civilization, and host of the Arab League headquarters.”

Soltanifar added that Araghchi is traveling to Cairo at the official invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty. During the trip, he is expected to meet not only with his Egyptian counterpart but also with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. According to the itinerary, Araghchi will also meet with Egyptian intellectuals and members of the Iranian community residing in Egypt.

He expressed hope that ongoing regional efforts would help restore stability and security, contributing to the resolution of crises in countries such as Sudan, Libya, and the Gaza Strip—paving the way for peaceful coexistence among regional states.

Soltanifar concluded by stating that the talks will also address continued Israeli aggression against Syria and Lebanon.
