WANA (Jul 04) – Thousands of non-Iranian mourners joined Iranians from across the country at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla on Saturday as they attended the farewell ceremony for Iran’s late leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

 

Among those in attendance were visitors from Pakistan, Nigeria, Bosnia, Georgia, etc, who traveled to Tehran to pay their respects.

 

A Nigerian student described Khamenei as “the leader of all Muslims, not only Iran,” saying he had come to bid farewell to a leader who supported the Palestinian people and other oppressed nations.

 

A woman from Bosnia said, “The people of Bosnia will remain indebted to Ayatollah Khamenei. We have lost our father, and now our hopes are with Iran’s strength and victory.”

 

An Iranian attendee said the large turnout demonstrated national unity, adding that “our enemies should know that our people remain united.”

 

One of the most notable scenes at the ceremony was the widespread display of red flags alongside Iran’s national flag. The red flag, which in Shiite symbolism represents the call for justice and vengeance for spilled blood, was carried by many mourners as a symbol of their demand for retribution against those responsible for the assassination of Iran’s late leader.
