WANA (Jan 18) – London police said four officers were injured and taken to the hospital following an incident involving pro-monarchy demonstrators at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London.

 

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 14 people were arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred during a gathering on Friday evening outside the embassy. According to police, one individual breached the embassy’s perimeter and was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, trespassing on diplomatic premises, and assaulting a police officer. The suspect remains in police custody.

 

Police said 13 others were arrested on suspicion of offenses including violent disorder, assault on an emergency worker, criminal damage, and trespassing on diplomatic property. Authorities confirmed that the injured officers sustained minor injuries.

 

Videos shared online appear to show police arresting some injured suspects at hospital facilities. Following the incident, police increased their presence around the embassy to prevent further disturbances.

 

The incident took place amid international media reports indicating a return to normal life in Iran after recent unrest.
