WANA (Oct 09) – Mojtaba Shasati Karimi, Director General of the Consular Affairs Department at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the release of Lenart Montrelos, a French national who had been detained in Iran.

 

According to Karimi, Montrelos, who was previously arrested on charges of engaging in anti-security activities, was acquitted by the competent court following the completion of investigations and judicial procedures. He has now been released from prison and returned to his home country.

 

The Judiciary of Hormozgan Province confirmed on Monday the acquittal of the German-French national, who had been detained during the 12-day conflict with the Israeli regime on charges of anti-security activities.

 

Earlier, in mid-July, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi told Le Monde that the German-French national had been arrested for committing a violation and that official information regarding his status had been sent to the French embassy.
