French Shipping Company Confirms Vessel Struck in Strait of Hormuz
WANA (May 06) – French shipping company CMA CGM has officially confirmed that one of its container vessels, the CMA CGM SAN ANTONIO, was struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday.
According to reports, the Malta-flagged vessel was targeted while en route from Khalifa Port in the UAE to the Port of Mundra in India.
The ship, which is owned and operated by the French firm CMA CGM, has been a frequent visitor to the region, having docked at the UAE’s Jebel Ali port at least six times in recent years.
The vessel’s last known location was recorded via its Automatic Identification System (AIS) near Emirati waters approximately 22 hours ago. Following the incident, the ship’s tracking system was reportedly disabled or turned off completely.
