WANA (Jul 22) – A funeral ceremony was held today in Minab for the newly identified remains of victims killed in the missile attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School, with large crowds of mourners and grieving families attending.

 

During the latest recovery operation, 62 body fragments belonging to 32 students were identified beneath the school’s rubble. Following funeral prayers and a public procession, the remains were buried at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Minab. Before the burial, families bid a final farewell to the recovered remains of their children.

 

According to officials, dozens of additional body fragments have been identified during the recent recovery efforts. The remains of student Amir Ali Kamali were also identified after five months of search operations, bringing an end to his family’s long wait.

 

The Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province said that despite multiple rounds of specialized search operations at the school and surrounding areas, no trace has yet been found of student Makan Nasiri. He stated that the missile struck directly where the child had been at the moment of impact.

 

The U.S. missile strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab on February 28, 2026, killed 168 students and teachers and injured more than 110 others. Recovery and identification efforts are still ongoing.
