Fujairah Port Hit by Cyber and Military Attacks
WANA (May 06) – Maritime intelligence firm Windward reports that the Fujairah oil terminal has been targeted in a series of coordinated cyber and military strikes. A drone attack on the VTTI terminal triggered a major fire that has remained active for over 48 hours.
During the same period, the ADNOC-owned supertanker “Barakah” was struck by two drones. These disruptions have caused UAE crude oil exports to plummet to 1.35 million barrels per day, representing a 58% drop from the ten-year seasonal average.
The attacks have created a maritime bottleneck, with more than 100 vessels currently stranded at anchorage as departures and loading cycles remain halted.
Furthermore, the SPM-2 loading platform was evacuated following the strikes, and no replacement vessels have approached the facility while fires continue to burn within the storage and loading areas.
