WANA (Jun 22) – Funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader will also be held in the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, following repeated requests from Iraqis to host the body of the late leader, according to the spokesperson for the committee overseeing the commemorative events.

 

The spokesperson for the Headquarters for the Commemoration of the Passing of Iran’s late Leader announced that the main funeral ceremony for the late leader will be held in Tehran on Monday, July 6.

 

The bodies of Dr. Mesbah al-Hoda Bagheri, Seyedeh Boshra Hosseini Khamenei, Zahra Haddad-Adel, and Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani will also be laid to rest alongside the martyred leader during the ceremony.

 

On Tuesday, July 7, funeral rites for the bodies will be held in the city of Qom, where prayers will also be performed for the late leader.

 

A further funeral ceremony for the late leader and members of his family will take place in the city of Mashhad on Thursday, July 9. The leader’s body will then be buried at the Imam Reza Shrine.

 

Responsibility for organizing the ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad has been assigned to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), with coordination being carried out through provincial headquarters.

 

In addition, following repeated requests from the Iraqi public to host the body of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, funeral ceremonies will also be held in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday, July 8. Iraqi authorities are expected to announce the exact time and location of the events at a later date.
