WANA (Jun 28) – On a day that marks a historic moment of sacrifice and defiance against tyranny in Shi’a memory, the people of Iran held large-scale and passionate funeral processions for the victims of recent attacks. In an official statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the nationwide turnout as a reflection of national unity and steadfastness on the path of resistance.

The statement reads: “Today, the great people of Iran, on a day intertwined with the memory of Ashura—a pivotal date in Shi’a history marking the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, a central figure in Islam who stood against oppression—escorted the pure bodies of their compatriots: men, women, and children who lost their lives during the aggressive war imposed by the Israeli regime and the United States.”

The Ministry emphasized that this strong public presence signifies the people’s unwavering commitment to the path of sacrifice and to defending national independence and dignity, adding: “The Iranian people transform threats into cohesion and war into an opportunity to realize their national will.”

The statement also honored Iran’s fallen military and scientific figures, asserting: “Iran’s national security is not a gift from foreign powers—it is the result of a nation’s perseverance, one that, at every critical juncture in history, continues its path with unshakable determination.”
