WANA (Jul 07) – The body of Iran’s late leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, is scheduled to arrive in Najaf, Iraq, today, with funeral ceremonies set to begin there on Wednesday.

 

According to the announced schedule, the procession will start at 6:00 a.m. in Najaf before the body is transferred to Karbala later in the afternoon.

 

Upon arrival in Karbala, mourners are expected to accompany the procession through the streets leading to the shrines of Imam Hussein and Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas.

 

Several Iraqi provinces and cities have declared public holidays to facilitate the ceremonies, while authorities said extensive preparations have been made by government agencies, service organizations, and volunteer groups to accommodate the expected large turnout.
