WANA (Jul 06) – The National Headquarters for the Farewell and Funeral Ceremony of Iran’s assassinated leader announced that the route of the funeral procession was revised to protect the health and safety of participants.

 

Secretary of the National Funeral Committee and Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Law Enforcement, Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, said on Monday afternoon that, in line with directives from the national organizing committee, the office of the late leader, and recommendations by Iran’s Supreme Leader to prioritize security, safety, and the well-being of mourners, authorities reassessed the planned procession route.

 

He said the review identified several areas near the original starting point that could have posed risks to participants. Despite efforts to maintain the initial plan, organizers ultimately decided to bring the coffins of Iran’s assassinated leader and his family into the procession from the middle section of Azadi Street.

 

Pourjamshidian apologized to the people of Tehran and visiting mourners for the change, stressing that safeguarding the health and safety of those attending the ceremony remained the top priority.
