WANA (Jun 11) – Brigadier General Seyed Majid Mousavi, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, warned that any attempt to destabilize the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a severe response from Iran.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mousavi said: “Will you make the sacred Strait of Hormuz unsafe? We will turn the entire region into hell for you from across Iran,”

He described the statement as Iran’s response to what he called “American provocations” in the region, adding that Tehran would respond decisively to any hostile action.

The remarks came shortly after Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic, including oil tankers and commercial vessels.

In a statement, the headquarters said that following U.S. military attacks on several locations in the southern province of Hormozgan and due to the resulting security situation, all transit through the strategic waterway had been suspended. It warned that any vessel attempting to pass through the strait would be targeted.

The statement also rejected U.S. claims that ships were continuing to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
