WANA (Jun 20) – Markus Potzel, the German Ambassador to Tehran, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the offensive and irresponsible remarks made by the German Chancellor and his support for the lawbreaking and internationally unlawful actions of the Israeli regime. Tehran’s strong protest was conveyed to him.

The Director General for Western Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yousefi, referring to the German government’s international commitment as a signatory to the UN Charter to oppose acts of aggression and violations of international law, emphasized that the armed attack by the Israeli regime against Iran is a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter and a blatant act of aggression that must be condemned by all UN member states.

Yousefi, condemning the remarks attributed to the German Chancellor—which are considered a tacit endorsement of lawbreaking and the use of force against a peaceful country and government—called for an explanation from the German government.

He stressed that distorting the truth and justifying illegality amounts to endorsing malicious behavior and encouraging that regime to violate international norms.
