WANA (Apr 16) – In a significant diplomatic exchange, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reaffirmed Tehran’s unwavering support for Lebanon, asserting that regional stability and a cessation of hostilities in the country remain a top priority for the Islamic Republic.

Tehran’s Stance: “We Stand by Our Lebanese Brothers”

During a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, Ghalibaf expressed his condolences for the “martyrdom” of Lebanese civilians and the fighters of Hezbollah and the Amal Movement.

Ghalibaf praised the resilience of the Lebanese people and emphasized the spiritual and strategic ties between the two nations:

Divine Victory: “God has promised that whenever resistance is formed, victory is the certain result,” Ghalibaf stated.

Shared Fate: He emphasized that Iran views Lebanon’s security as its own, noting, “We will never forget our Lebanese brothers… establishing a ceasefire in Lebanon is as important to us as a ceasefire in Iran.”

Diplomatic Pressure: Ghalibaf highlighted ongoing efforts from the Islamabad negotiations and beyond to force the “enemy” into a permanent ceasefire across all conflict zones.

Berri: Over 1.2 Million Displaced by “Literal Crimes”

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri provided a sobering update on the humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli military operations.

Mass Displacement: Berri reported that over 1,200,000 Lebanese citizens have been displaced so far, accusing Israel of committing “crimes in every sense of the word” with the intent of uprooting the population.

No Compromise: He asserted that the resistance remains steadfast and rejected any formal consultations with the “Zionist regime,” stating such moves do not serve the interests of the Lebanese people.

Gratitude for Support: Berri concluded by thanking Ghalibaf for his “seriousness and efforts” in supporting Lebanon and the Islamic Resistance.
