‌WANA (Jun 24) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said his participation in the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Baku offers an important opportunity to outline Iran’s perspective on regional developments following the so-called “Ramadan War.”

 

Speaking ahead of his visit to Azerbaijan’s capital on Wednesday, Ghalibaf said the gathering of parliamentary leaders and delegations from across the Islamic world would provide a valuable platform for discussing major developments that have unfolded over the past year, particularly the regional consequences of the Ramadan War.

 

He noted that the post-war environment has significantly altered regional dynamics and requires a reassessment of prevailing security assumptions. According to Ghalibaf, recent events have challenged the long-held belief that external powers operating from far beyond the region can guarantee stability and security.

 

“The developments following the Ramadan War demonstrated that these actors have not been able to provide security and, in many cases, have themselves become a source of instability,” he said, arguing that regional countries should take advantage of the new circumstances to pursue a different approach to regional security.

 

Ghalibaf also stated that, alongside multilateral discussions at the summit, he plans to hold talks on bilateral relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, with a focus on expanding cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
