WANA (Sep 24) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has sarcastically reacted to the 5.1% yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds, saying the United States should celebrate the figure because it could be the floor for the next two years.

In a post on X, Ghalibaf congratulated the United States on the 5.1% yield on its 10-year bonds and said it should “celebrate,” adding that the figure was “the floor two years out.”

Ghalibaf questioned whether the United States had wanted to drag Iran back to the 1970s, asking whether anyone had told Washington that Iran was not for “arrogant amateurs.”

He said Iran would instead return the United States to the rates of the 1970s, along with high gasoline prices, diesel shortages and bell-bottom trousers.

Ghalibaf concluded his post by telling the United States to “enjoy the nostalgia.”
