WANA (Apr 30) – The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, emphasized Iran’s strategic role in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a pathway toward a future free from U.S. presence and interference in the region.

In a message posted on his account on the social platform X to mark National Persian Gulf Day, Ghalibaf wrote that in 1622, after 115 years of occupation, European colonial powers were expelled from the Persian Gulf, and the occasion is commemorated annually in honor of that historic victory.

Referring to current regional dynamics, he added that Iran, by exercising management over the Strait of Hormuz, can enable both itself and neighboring countries to benefit from the valuable prospect of a future without American presence and intervention.

Ghalibaf underscored the geopolitical importance of the Strait of Hormuz and its influential role in shaping regional developments.
