WANA (Jul 10) – Iranian Parliament Speaker and head of Iran’s negotiating delegation, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said Iran has no trust in the United States, stating that during negotiations he told the U.S. vice president that Tehran does not trust Washington and believes only those who are prepared for war can negotiate with the United States.

 

Ghalibaf made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), welcoming the Indonesian delegation to Iran and the city of Mashhad. He also thanked the Indonesian government, parliament, and people for expressing sympathy with the Iranian nation.

 

Ghalibaf said Iran regards the Indonesian people as pioneers in resisting arrogance and opposing the Israeli regime.

 

He stressed that the strength of the Islamic Revolution lies in its principles, which are rooted in the teachings of the Quran.

 

“We have never sought war, but the Quran obliges us to resist oppression and never surrender to oppressors. For this reason, the Iranian nation will never submit to injustice,” he said.

 

The parliament speaker added that before the recent war, the United States, Israel, and NATO believed they could force Iran into submission within a few days, but quickly realized they would not achieve their objectives.

 

“The world witnessed that they failed to accomplish their goals against Iran,” he said.

 

Ghalibaf said the Iranian people shattered what he described as America’s image of power during the recent conflict, adding that economic, political, and media pressure on the United States and Israel left them in a difficult position, prompting Washington to seek a ceasefire.

 

“We do not trust the Americans,” Ghalibaf said. “During the negotiations, I made it clear to the U.S. vice president that we have absolutely no trust in you. In my view, only those who are prepared for war can negotiate with the United States.”

 

The head of Iran’s negotiating delegation added that Iran has never abandoned its military readiness.

 

“If the Americans betray the understanding at any moment, we are fully prepared to defend our country. We will stand firmly against them and secure the rights of the Iranian nation,” he said.

 

Referring to what he described as economic pressure on the United States resulting from the recent war and its domestic political challenges, Ghalibaf said Washington has experienced Iran’s military strength and readiness.

 

“They know that we will not let go of America’s collar,” he said.

 

At the same time, he stressed that ending the war remains a priority for countries around the world, but added that everyone should understand the conflict will never end through Iran’s surrender.

 

Ghalibaf said Muslim nations and countries should recognize the need to stand against the United States and Israel, adding that the experience of the Islamic Republic has shown success is possible through such resistance.

 

He also called for expanding economic, political, and cultural cooperation between Iran and Indonesia, particularly through stronger parliamentary ties to facilitate broader bilateral relations.

 

Indonesian Parliament Speaker Welcomes Efforts to End Iran-U.S. War

During the meeting, Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly, expressed condolences over the death of Iran’s late leader and sympathy with the Iranian people over the loss of what he described as a great leader.

 

He said the feelings of the Indonesian people regarding the incident are close to those of the Iranian people.

 

Muzani said the sorrow of the Iranian people is also the sorrow of the Indonesian people, adding that the delegation traveled thousands of kilometers to Iran to convey Indonesia’s solidarity with the Iranian nation.

 

He said Indonesia welcomes efforts to end the war between Iran and the United States.

 

“We believe the noble people of Iran seek peace, and I believe your efforts can lead to peace,” he said.

 

Muzani also emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sector.

 

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, who also attended the meeting, expressed condolences on behalf of the Indonesian government to Iran’s government, parliament, and people, and emphasized strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic field.

 

Also present at the meeting were Mohsen Zangeneh, head of the Iran-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Abolfazl Amouei and Mohammad Saeed Ahadian, advisers to the Iranian parliament speaker, as well as the leader of the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic organization and the deputy head of Muhammadiyah, Indonesia’s two largest Islamic organizations, who accompanied the Indonesian parliamentary speaker.
