WANA (Jun 21) – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament and head of the Iranian negotiating team, has reacted to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, stressing that Tehran considers Washington’s threats ineffective.

 

In a post published on X on Sunday, June 21, Ghalibaf wrote that if American threats were truly effective, the United States would not be facing its current situation. He added, “We do not take the Americans’ threats seriously.”

 

The parliament speaker further warned U.S. officials to be more cautious in their statements, emphasizing that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond. “They may keep talking, but we are the ones who act,” he said.

 

Ghalibaf’s comments came after Trump, speaking to Fox News while Iran–U.S. talks were underway in Switzerland, suggested that Washington could take steps to control the Strait of Hormuz. He also warned that if no agreement is reached, the United States would impose “costs” on Iran.

 

Meanwhile, some media reports indicate that the Iranian negotiating delegation left the venue in protest over Trump’s remarks and threats.
