WANA (Sep 13) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has taken a swipe at rising fuel prices in the United States after a gas station in the country reportedly posted a price of $9.99 per gallon, sharing a clip from the popular animated series The Simpsons that humorously depicted soaring US gasoline prices.

Ghalibaf shared the clip on his X account in response to a Bloomberg report that a gas station in San Diego, California, had posted a fuel price of $9.99.

Bloomberg reported that the price had reached $9.99 at one station in San Diego, adding that the station’s price signs had no room to display higher figures.

The clip shared by Ghalibaf features a scene from The Simpsons that humorously depicts fuel prices reaching historic levels. In the scene, after gasoline prices rise into double digits and the station’s sign can no longer display the full price, the show’s main character jokes about fuel becoming free.

The Simpsons is one of the world’s best-known animated series and has gained a reputation for seemingly predicting various real-world events.
