WANA (Aug 24) – Iranian negotiating team chief Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran is pursuing the implementation of the conditions set out in the memorandum of understanding, stressing that the United States must honor its commitments under the agreement.

 

Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Tehran on Monday, August 24, as part of Pakistan’s efforts to help strengthen peace and security in the region.

 

During the meeting, Ghalibaf reviewed what he described as multiple instances of US failure to honor its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. He said the obligations of both sides under the MoU were clear and that the United States had undermined regional stability by failing to uphold its commitments, creating further grounds for distrust.

 

Rejecting the notion that Iran could be influenced by pressure, Ghalibaf said, “We are pursuing the implementation of the conditions of the memorandum of understanding, and it is the United States that must honor its commitments under the agreement.”

 

Munir, for his part, said he would continue his efforts to help restore stability in the region.
