WANA (Jun 02) – Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the Iranian negotiating delegation, warned that Iran will halt diplomatic talks and directly confront Israel if its military actions persist. Ghalibaf made the remarks during a phone call with Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament.

“Hezbollah and Amal are today defending both their homeland and the Islamic Ummah,” Ghalibaf said, stressing the deep ties between Tehran and Beirut. “The bond between Iran and Lebanon is unbreakable; our lives and yours are one.”

The Iranian Speaker emphasized that Tehran has been actively pursuing an end to Israeli attacks over the past two days. However, he issued a stern warning regarding the continuation of the conflict: “If these crimes continue, we will not only halt the negotiation process, but we will also stand firmly against the Zionist regime.”

Push for a Comprehensive Ceasefire

Ghalibaf stated that Iran remains determined to see a ceasefire established across all of Lebanon, particularly in the southern region. He further noted that any potential broader agreement to end the conflict between Iran and the United States would be contingent on stopping hostilities on all fronts, with a specific focus on Lebanon.

In response, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri expressed his gratitude for the Islamic Republic’s efforts to halt Israeli actions, stating that “Lebanon will never forget Iran’s positive stance during this critical phase.”

Social Media Statement

Following the call, Ghalibaf reiterated his stance in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reinforcing the message that Iran is prepared to pivot from diplomacy to direct confrontation if necessary.

He concluded his message with slogans supporting the regional alliance: “Long live the Resistance. Long live the defense of the homeland. Long live the brotherhood between the nations of Iran and Lebanon.”
