Ghalibaf: We Will Inflict Such Devastating Blows That You Will Beg for Mercy
WANA (Mar 01) – The Speaker of Iran’s Parliament stated that the country “will settle accounts with the United States and Israel,” asserting that the formation of a Leadership Council would generate unprecedented unity and authority among officials and the armed forces.
Speaking in a televised address on Sunday morning, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf referred to the reported assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader. He said that when General Qassem Soleimani was killed, he believed he was experiencing the bitterest days of his life and felt as though the world had come to an end. “I never imagined that a day would come when I would face circumstances even more painful than that,” he said, adding that he wished there had been time to speak about the depth and greatness of “that divine and devoted man.”
Comparing recent military actions known domestically as “True Promise 3 and 4,” Ghalibaf said that during “True Promise 3,” it took only a few hours under the command of “our martyred Imam” for Iranian forces to regroup and deliver what he described as a lesson to the “Zionist enemy.” He argued that the country’s military and managerial structure has moved beyond reliance on individuals, claiming that the scale and success of operations targeting U.S. and Israeli centers had surprised military analysts and continued “without the slightest pause.”
He added that Iran had prepared for such moments and had contingency plans for all scenarios, “even for the time after the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei.”
Referring to the establishment of a Leadership Council, Ghalibaf said it would create “unimaginable authority and cohesion” among officials, the armed forces, and the public. He insisted that Iran’s defense forces had so far used only a portion of their capabilities and reiterated that the country would hold the United States and Israel accountable.
Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump directly, Ghalibaf said, “Very clearly and explicitly, I tell Trump and Netanyahu, these two filthy criminals, and all their agents: you have crossed our red line and you must pay the price.”
He described the confrontation as “not merely an existential war, but a long-suppressed anger whose time for final revenge has arrived.”
Ghalibaf further stated that, backed by “tens of millions of loyal Iranians” and with faith in divine support, Iran would deliver such severe blows that its adversaries would “fall to begging,” asserting that their “illusory fantasies” would not last more than a few days.
He concluded by expressing confidence that the revolution would endure with popular support, referencing large public rallies earlier this year. He argued that Iran’s adversaries oppose the Islamic Republic because it has preserved the country’s independence and territorial integrity. Ghalibaf ended his remarks by quoting a Quranic verse promising “victory from God and an imminent conquest.”
