WANA (Jun 03) – The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) claimed on Wednesday evening that he knows the location of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, which were targeted during last year’s 12-day war.

Speaking in an interview, Rafael Grossi claimed that Iran’s enriched uranium stocks remain at the same previous location, though physical damage has made accessing them difficult. Grossi also claimed that current mining and uranium enrichment activities in Iran are now highly limited or virtually non-existent.

Unresolved Negotiations and Alternative Options

When asked whether Iran had previously agreed to eliminate its enriched uranium stockpiles by bringing them down to zero, Grossi claimed that it was difficult to say because the negotiations were interrupted by the war.

The IAEA chief claimed that several alternative options were being discussed at the time. He stated that the scenario of zeroing out stockpiles was one of them, but it was not the only option. He added that other alternatives included Iran halting or limiting its enrichment, though it remains unclear what can be agreed upon under current circumstances.

Tehran Denies Nuclear Talks

Grossi’s claims come despite recent clarifications from Tehran regarding the scope of regional diplomatic efforts.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei previously stated during his weekly press conference that, as has been repeatedly announced, no negotiations have taken place regarding nuclear-related issues, emphasizing that Iran’s sole focus remains on ending the war.
