Hanoi Hosts First Exhibition by Iranian Painter
WANA (Aug 23) – The first solo painting exhibition by an Iranian artist, titled “Journey into the Layers of Art”, opened on August 22, 2025, at Vietnam’s House of Fine Arts. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in collaboration with the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
The opening ceremony was attended by ambassadors and representatives from Belarus, Sri Lanka, Russia, South Africa, the Philippines, and the Czech Republic, along with prominent Vietnamese artists and leading media outlets such as VTV3, SCTV8, Hanoi Television, and the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).
In his opening remarks, the representative of the Iranian Embassy paid tribute to the late master of Persian miniature, Mahmoud Farshchian, and highlighted the role of cultural exchanges in strengthening friendly relations between Iran and Vietnam. He noted: “Art is a common language among nations that can foster deeper bonds between the two countries. Master Farshchian’s works are a legacy of delicacy and spirituality, now carried forward by his students and admirers, including Mr. Mohammad Khazaei.”
He described the exhibited works as “a contemplative journey into the realms of beauty, heritage, and human experience,” adding that the paintings create a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Luong Xuan Doan, President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, congratulated the opening of the first Iranian artist’s exhibition in Vietnam, calling it “an important step toward expanding artistic cooperation,” which could pave the way for broader cultural exchanges in the future.
Mohammad Khazaei, the Iranian painter and creator of the works on display, expressed hope for closer cultural ties between the two nations: “Art is a universal language that tells the story of people’s lives and emotions without words. I hope this exhibition offers an opportunity for deeper understanding and stronger cultural connections between Iran and Vietnam.” He also extended his condolences on the passing of Master Farshchian to the artistic communities of Iran and the world.
The exhibition “Journey into the Layers of Art” features over 30 works by Mohammad Khazaei, blending the traditions of Persian miniature with influences from Japanese styles. The collection reflects three decades of his artistic journey and international experiences. The exhibition will run until August 24, 2025, marking the first-ever solo show by an Iranian artist in Vietnam.
