WANA (Jun 15) – Hezbollah has described the memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the United States as a “major achievement,” saying it contributed to the cessation of hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

 

In an official statement, the Lebanese movement congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran, its leadership, and its people on what it called a significant accomplishment resulting from years of resilience and steadfastness in the face of mounting pressure.

 

According to the statement, the agreement between Tehran and Washington helped bring about a complete halt to fighting on various fronts, including Lebanon, marking what Hezbollah characterized as an important development for the region.

 

Hezbollah attributed the outcome to the “legendary perseverance, exceptional steadfastness, and immense sacrifices of the Iranian people,” stressing that Iran remained committed to preserving its dignity, sovereignty, and independence throughout the process.

 

The group also praised Iran’s Supreme Leader for guiding the country through this period with what it described as wisdom, courage, and insight.

 

The statement further expressed appreciation for the efforts of Iran’s president, government, and armed forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian military. Hezbollah said Tehran consistently insisted that Lebanon be included in any arrangement aimed at ending the conflict while safeguarding the country’s rights and interests.

 

Hezbollah also pointed to the hardships and pressure endured by Iran over the years, describing them as evidence of the Islamic Republic’s loyalty to its allies and its continued support for Lebanon during difficult times.

 

The movement emphasized that the current ceasefire should be viewed as the beginning of a broader process that must ultimately lead to the liberation of occupied Lebanese territory, the return of detainees, the return of displaced residents—particularly those from frontline villages—and the reconstruction of areas damaged by the conflict.

 

At the same time, Hezbollah urged residents of southern Lebanon not to rush back to their homes and to wait for instructions from the relevant authorities to ensure a safe return and avoid any risks stemming from potential violations of the ceasefire by Israel.

 

The group also stated that a return to the conditions that existed before the conflict is no longer possible, warning that it would not accept any actions that undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty or threaten the safety of its people.

 

Hezbollah reaffirmed its commitment to what it called Lebanon’s legitimate right to defend its territory, people, and sovereignty until a full Israeli withdrawal and the return of detainees are achieved.

 

In the final section of its statement, Hezbollah called on Lebanon’s government and political factions to set aside their differences and unite around national priorities. It also urged political groups to reassess past policies and take into account the region’s evolving realities.
