WANA (Sep 06) – The 17th edition of the World Wushu Championships witnessed a historic moment for Iranian sports on Saturday, September 6, 2025, as Zahra Kiani, Iran’s leading Taolu athlete, delivered a flawless performance to capture the gold medal in the Qiangshu event.

Competing against 27 athletes, Kiani entered the field as the final performer of the session and impressed the judges with her commanding execution. Her score secured the top spot on the podium, earning Iran its first-ever world championship gold medal in individual Taolu.

With this victory, Iran’s tally at the World Championships in Brazil rose to two golds and one bronze. Kiani, who previously clinched gold at the Chengdu World Games, has now repeated her success on the highest stage of global wushu competition, reaffirming her status as the face of women’s Taolu in Iran.

This milestone not only marks a turning point in Kiani’s career but also opens a new chapter for the presence of Iranian women on the international wushu stage.
