WANA (May 24) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has referenced a historical episode to underscore what he described as the repeated failure of “delusional aggressors” against Iran.

Esmail Baghaei shared a post on X alongside an image of a rock relief depicting the victory of Shapur I over a Roman emperor.

“Romans believed Rome was the center of the world, but Iranians shattered that illusion,” Baghaei wrote.

Referring to the eastern military campaign of Marcus Julius Philippus, commonly known as Philip the Arab, against Iran, Baghaei said the expedition did not end in a Roman victory. Instead, it concluded with a peace agreement negotiated on the terms of Shapur I.

“The emperor was ultimately forced to accept reality,” he added.

The post comes amid heightened regional tensions and escalating rhetoric against Iran in recent weeks, as Iranian officials have repeatedly pointed to the country’s historical experience in confronting external pressure and foreign aggression.
