IAEA Collaboration Requires Parliament Law and SNSC Consent
WANA (Aug 28) – The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization stated that the assessment of nuclear facility damages from the Iran-Israel war is ongoing and emphasized that cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will depend on an agreement in line with Iranian law and the decision of the Supreme National Security Council.
Referring to the extent of damage sustained by nuclear installations during the war, he said that expert evaluations and damage assessments are currently being prepared.
He added that, given the security conditions at the affected sites, the process is naturally time-consuming. Nevertheless, Iran’s nuclear program remains a key component of the country’s scientific development and will continue.
Regarding the latest status of cooperation with the IAEA, he explained that, based on consultations between the IAEA Director General and Iran’s Foreign Minister, any arrangements for continuing agency activities in Iran must first be agreed upon according to parliamentary law. Once such an agreement is reached, the Supreme National Security Council will decide on Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA.
