Identities of 60 Senior Officers in Israel’s Elite Special Forces Exposed
WANA (May 10) – The Handala cyber group has claimed a major security breach, reportedly leaking the full identities of 60 senior officers from the Egoz Unit, an elite commando wing of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
In a statement released by the group, Handala mocked the unit’s reputation, noting that while “Egoz” means “Walnut” in Hebrew—a name intended to project toughness—they have now been exposed as “hollow walnuts.”
“Perhaps it is time for them to abandon guerrilla warfare and pick walnuts instead; they might find more success in that,” the statement read.
The Egoz Unit is specialized in reconnaissance, mountain warfare, and counter-guerrilla operations, particularly along the Lebanese border. However, Handala asserts that these “hunters” have now become the “hunted” by the “shadows of the resistance.”
The group further characterized the officers not as standard military personnel, but as “terrorists” complicit in war crimes and brutal attacks across the region.
The most significant claim in the communiqué involves the alleged compromise of physical locations. Handala stated it has obtained the precise coordinates of all Egoz Unit bases and has forwarded this data to Hezbollah’s fiber-optic-guided drones.
“From now on,” the group warned, “even the mountains and forests will provide you no shelter.”
