Impressive Performance by Iranian Athletes on Day Six of the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
WANA (Oct 28) – On the sixth day of the Asian Youth Games hosted in Manama, Bahrain, Iranian athletes shone brightly in freestyle wrestling and boxing, winning gold, silver, and bronze medals.
In the freestyle wrestling competitions held from 10 a.m. local time at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, Arman Elahi, competing in the 51 kg category, faced Ulugbek Rashidov from Uzbekistan in the final match. The bout ended 4–4, but the Uzbek wrestler was declared the winner based on scoring criteria, earning Elahi the silver medal.
In another strong performance, Amirmohammad Zarrinkam, competing in the 71 kg weight class, defeated Satoya Kobayashi of Japan by technical superiority to claim the gold medal, marking Iran’s second gold in freestyle wrestling.
Meanwhile, in the 60 kg category, Seyed Taha Hashemi overcame Yakub Ebronov from Tajikistan with a decisive 9–3 victory in the bronze medal match, securing the bronze medal for Iran.
In boxing, Farzan Ahmadi, competing in the 66 kg division, delivered a solid performance in the semifinals against Sadullo Khujayev from Uzbekistan but ultimately lost by judges’ decision (4–1), finishing with a bronze medal.
With these results, Iran added three more medals to its tally on the sixth day of the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, continuing its impressive run across multiple sports.
