WANA (Jan 02) – In Kermanshah, a province in western Iran, police arrested several individuals accused of disrupting public security who were preparing improvised weapons in their hideouts with the intention of disturbing public order. The suspects were handed over to the judicial authorities.

Following peaceful protest gatherings over livelihood conditions in the city of Kermanshah, seven individuals linked to hostile groups and foreign-based opposition organizations were arrested by security forces with the cooperation of local residents.

According to authorities, the detainees intended to divert public protests into unrest, and one of those arrested was armed.

Previously, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence announced the identification and arrest of seven individuals affiliated with hostile groups, as well as the discovery of 100 smuggled handguns linked to individuals involved in unrest.

The weapons had been brought into the country from the western borders under the guise of cross-border porterage, and those involved in the smuggling operation were also identified and arrested.
