WANA (May 14) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi attended the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi today, where he was welcomed by his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The meeting, held under India’s rotating presidency of BRICS, is taking place on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15, with a focus on regional stability, multilateral cooperation, and economic resilience.

India has selected “building resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability” as the main theme of its BRICS presidency this year.

The gathering aims to strengthen political and economic coordination among member states within the BRICS framework.

Foreign ministers from Russia, Egypt, Brazil, India, and South Africa are among the senior officials participating in the event.

During his visit, Araghchi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with India’s foreign minister as well as other ministers and officials attending the summit.

BRICS was originally founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The group later expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, bringing the total number of member states to ten.
