Informed Source: Consensus Among Iran’s Leadership — No Talks Without a Ceasefire in Lebanon
WANA (Apr 09) – An informed source, stressing full consensus at the highest levels of Iran’s leadership, stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon is a definitive and non-negotiable precondition for the Islamic Republic of Iran to enter any new round of negotiations.
Amid growing speculation about a possible resumption of talks, the source told a pro-government Iranian media outlet that the situation in Lebanon and a complete halt to hostilities there are central to Tehran’s agenda, and without them, no negotiations will be pursued.
Referring to Pakistan’s mediation initiative, the source added: “Iran’s 10-point proposal, conveyed through international intermediaries, explicitly emphasizes the necessity of including Lebanon within a comprehensive ceasefire framework. Tehran did not agree to a ceasefire until the U.S. side and Donald Trump formally acknowledged the overall package. Under conditions where attacks on Lebanon continue, negotiations are considered strategically meaningless and ineffective.”
The source further underscored the existence of consensus among top decision-makers, noting: “All senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran are in agreement on this issue. This unity sends a clear and consistent message: unless the Lebanon issue is resolved, there will be no negotiations.”
The source also pointed to contingency measures in the event that a ceasefire is not achieved, stating: “The country’s diplomatic and military institutions are not limited to a single option; a range of measures is on the table to ensure Lebanon’s inclusion in the ceasefire.”
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Civil Defense Organization reported that despite the declared ceasefire, Israeli attacks on various parts of the country yesterday resulted in 254 killed and more than 1,000 injuries, further complicating the situation on the ground and the broader political landscape.
