International Association of Lawyers Condemns U.S.-Israeli Attack on Iran
WANA (Mar 21) – The International Association of Lawyers (UIA), in a statement issued in Paris, strongly condemned the military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran and expressed serious concern over their consequences.
In its statement, the organization emphasized that the attack violates the fundamental principles of international law and is inconsistent with the Charter of the United Nations. It further described the action as a clear breach of the prohibition on the use of force in international relations.
The UIA also expressed support for the position of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The association stressed that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes in accordance with international law, particularly as outlined in Article 33(1) of the UN Charter.
Additionally, the organization called on all parties to adhere to their international obligations and to avoid further escalation of tensions.
It is worth noting that the International Association of Lawyers (UIA), founded in 1927, is a prominent global legal organization with more than two million members across over 110 countries. The association is actively engaged in professional development, legal education, the promotion of the rule of law, the defense of lawyers’ independence, and the strengthening of professional ties among its members worldwide.
