International Media Delegations Visit Site of Minab Massacre
WANA (May 22) – Around 60 domestic and international media personnel visited the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab as part of the “Iran Plus” press tour, aiming to document the aftermath of an American strike.
During the visit, foreign correspondents met and spoke with the families of the slain students and survivors of the attack. Gathering at the scene, a group of bereaved families held up portraits of their children while speaking to the international press about the multi-faceted dimensions of the tragedy.
“Imagine It Was Your Children”
Among the attendees was Ken O’Keefe, an American anti-war activist and former U.S. Marine, who directly addressed the global community regarding the strike.
O’Keefe asked the public to imagine how they would feel if Tomahawk missiles manufactured in Tucson, Arizona, were to rain down on their own children.
He further challenged the audience to consider their reaction if Iran had killed 132 of their children, questioning whether it would still be considered wrong for them to shout “Death to Iran” under those circumstances.
Directing sharp criticism at Western political and media narratives, O’Keefe questioned how they dared to feed such lies to the world. He concluded by demanding to know what terrorist act the Islamic Republic of Iran had ever committed against them.
Following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Feb 28, 2026, in Iran, the Shajareh Tayebeh School in Minab was among the first targets. In the airstrike on the school, 165 individuals were killed, including students, teachers, and parents. Additionally, 95 people were wounded. The school had 35 staff members, of whom 14 have been confirmed dead so far.
On March 03, 2026, the bodies of the students from the Shajareh Tayebeh School in Minab were laid to rest after a funeral procession that drew large crowds of mourners.
UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, condemned the bombing of an elementary school in Iran during the ongoing military attacks by the United States and Israel.
