IPC Praises World’s Strongest Para Powerlifter, Iran’s Aminzadeh
WANA (Oct 18) – The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) website published a feature praising Ahmad Aminzadeh, the world’s strongest para powerlifter, following his gold medal victory at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo.
Aminzadeh, a Paralympic champion and Iran’s most decorated super-heavyweight para powerlifter, lifted 260 kilograms in the over 107 kg category to claim his third world title and continue Iran’s long-standing dominance in the sport, once led by the late Siamand Rahman.
The IPC website wrote:
“On the final day of the individual events at the World Championships, Ahmad Aminzadeh succeeded in lifting 260 kilograms in his second attempt at the Cairo Para Powerlifting Hall and, with a difference of nine kilograms over Gustavo Am Melo de Souza from Brazil, won the world championship title for the third time.”
This victory marks Aminzadeh’s third world gold medal in the super-heavyweight category and demonstrates the continuation of Iran’s dominance in this class following Siamand Rahman’s historic achievements.
After the competition, Aminzadeh said, “After the Paris 2024 Paralympics, I did not train much because of chest pain, but I’m happy that I could win gold again. Now I will return to Iran to undergo recovery and continue my training with greater strength.”
Aminzadeh added, “For the first time in this competition, I tried to lift 270 kilograms, but I couldn’t manage it this time. I hope to lift it successfully in future events.”
