WANA (Jun 07) – In an explanatory note titled “Safeguards Agreement under the NPT with the Islamic Republic of Iran”, Iran stated that uranium enrichment up to 60% is not prohibited under the provisions of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and all related activities and stockpiles remain under the supervision and verification of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The note, referring to the latest Director General’s report (GOV/2025/25), underscores that the absence of any evidence suggesting a diversion toward military objectives reaffirms the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program. It also stresses that the remaining outstanding issues do not constitute proliferation concerns due to the lack of credible evidence.

Iran further noted that the recent report contradicts both the previous final assessment (GOV/2015/68) and the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors (GOV/2015/72), which had concluded matters related to past issues.

The document emphasizes the necessity for the Agency to rely solely on credible and verified sources, warning that the use of open-source information or materials provided by third parties is inconsistent with the IAEA’s principles of professionalism, impartiality, and objectivity.

According to Iran, all nuclear materials and activities have been declared to the IAEA and verified accordingly. Iranian authorities also reported that extensive investigations have revealed indications suggesting possible sabotage or hostile acts in the contamination of certain sites.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), criticizing the inclusion of unrelated issues in the recent report, described the move as incompatible with the IAEA’s professional standards and reiterated Iran’s transparency and full commitment to its safeguards obligations.
