WANA (Dec 05) – Google’s latest report shows that 2025 has been a year full of surprises—sparking the curiosity of millions of users worldwide, from artificial intelligence to cinema and sports.

 

According to the annual Year in Search report, the data reveals which topics captured the most attention in 2025, especially those experiencing the sharpest year-over-year growth. The list offers a clear snapshot of global curiosity waves: from AI chatbots and major sporting events to headline-making personalities and even food trends. This year, the fastest-growing search term overall was “Gemini,” Google’s new AI chatbot, which claimed the top spot.

 

In the news category, “Charlie Kirk” ranked first among trending searches, followed by “Iran” and “U.S. government shutdown,” both showing major spikes in interest. In entertainment and food, items such as “Hot Honey” and “Marry Me Chicken” emerged as unexpected favorites.

 

In cinema, movies including “Anora,” “Superman,” and “Minecraft” dominated search growth, while Mikey Madison, Louis Pullman, and Isabela Merced were the actors whose searches rose the most.

 

In sports, the FIFA Club World Cup registered the highest growth in search traffic, and teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, and the Toronto Blue Jays ranked among the most-searched. In the podcast category, “The Charlie Kirk Show” secured first place. In books, the novel “Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover led the list for the fastest rise in interest.

 

Overall, 2025 proved to be a year where artificial intelligence, politics, cinema, food, and sports converged at the center of global attention—shaping what users across the world were most eager to discover.
