Iran and Egypt Share a Joint Responsibility
WANA (Jun 03) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, reflecting on his recent visit to Egypt, wrote: “Iran and Egypt share a joint responsibility to uphold peace, stability, and calm across the region.”
On Tuesday night, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran met and held talks with three former Egyptian foreign ministers at the traditional “Naguib Mahfouz” restaurant in the historic Khan el-Khalili district of Cairo.
The meeting was attended by former Egyptian foreign ministers Amr Moussa, Nabil Fahmy, and Mohamed El-Orabi.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, shared a post about the meeting on the social platform X.
Writing in Arabic on his account on the social platform X after concluding his trip to Cairo, Araghchi stated: “I am pleased to be in Cairo once again. I held highly important meetings with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty. After many years, Iranian-Egyptian diplomacy has entered a new phase. The level of political engagement and cooperation—and more importantly, the degree of trust and confidence in the relationship between our two countries—is unprecedented.”
He continued: “As two influential regional powers with ancient cultures and civilizations, Iran and Egypt share a joint responsibility for maintaining peace, stability, and tranquility in the region.”
Araghchi also noted: “I performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers at the Mosque of Sayyidna al-Hussein, and had dinner at the traditional Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant in the historic Khan el-Khalili district, accompanied by several prominent Egyptian figures, including three former foreign ministers—Amr Moussa, Nabil Fahmy, and Mohamed El-Orabi. We had a very fruitful discussion.”
The head of Iran’s Interests Section in Egypt, referring to the recent visit of Seyed Abbas Araghchi to Cairo, stated: “During this trip, the path for enhancing relations was smoother than ever before.”
Mohammad Hossein Soltanifar, Head of Iran’s Interests Section in Egypt, wrote on the social platform X about Araghchi’s recent visit to Egypt: “Dr. Araghchi’s trip to Egypt was a highly successful visit carried out at a very critical and sensitive time.”
He added: “The meetings with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty were substantive, insightful, and precise.”
This Iranian diplomat emphasized: “This visit has paved the way for upgrading bilateral relations more than ever before.”
