Iran and France Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Talks
WANA (Apr 13) – The foreign ministers of Iran and France held a phone conversation to discuss the latest developments related to Iran–U.S. negotiations, emphasizing the importance of continuing diplomatic consultations.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, briefed his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, on the progress of intensive talks between Iran and the United States held in Islamabad, Pakistan. He stated that despite Iran’s complete distrust of the U.S., the Islamic Republic entered the negotiations with a responsible approach and in good faith.
According to Araghchi, although progress had been made on many issues, what he described as Washington’s excessive demands and its constantly shifting positions ultimately prevented the parties from reaching a final agreement.
For his part, the French Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s support for a diplomatic path to end tensions and conflict, expressing hope that continued dialogue would lead to a final agreement within the framework of the Islamabad talks.
At the end of the call, both sides underscored the importance of continuing bilateral consultations, as well as engaging with other regional parties, to advance diplomatic efforts.
