WANA (July 30 ) – Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister, met with Mamadou Tangara, Gambia’s Foreign Minister, who is in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new President.

 

During the meeting, Bagheri Kani emphasized Iran’s commitment to resuming and strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations with Gambia. He welcomed the Gambia’s high-level officials’ dedication and serious intent to enhance cooperation.

 

Bagheri Kani noted that the resumption of political relations between the two countries will open up numerous opportunities for collaboration, particularly within bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

 

Mamadou Tangara expressed his pleasure at visiting Tehran and congratulated Iran on the successful presidential elections. He conveyed a congratulatory message from Gambian President Adama Barrow to Pezeshkain, the new Iranian President. Tangara also reiterated condolences from President Barrow, the Gambian government, and the people of Gambia for the loss of Iran’s late President and Foreign Minister.

 

Tangara reaffirmed Gambia’s serious commitment to resuming and expanding comprehensive relations with Iran.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, Tangara and Bagheri Kani signed an official statement announcing the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Gambia.
