WANA (Jun 02) – In a telephone conversation, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, spoke with Johann Wadephul, Germany’s Foreign Minister, regarding bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

 

During the call, Araghchi expressed hope for an improvement in relations between the two countries. Referring to a number of existing understandings, he affirmed Iran’s readiness to take effective steps toward strengthening bilateral ties.

 

He also highlighted the ongoing diplomatic track between Iran and the United States concerning sanctions relief and the nuclear issue. Araghchi stressed the importance of a constructive European role in this context and reiterated Iran’s willingness to continue dialogue with the E3 and the European Union.

 

The German Foreign Minister, in turn, welcomed the exchange and emphasized Germany’s preparedness to pursue both bilateral and multilateral discussions with Iran, while underlining the need for further confidence-building measures.

 

It was also agreed that political consultations between the two foreign ministries would be scheduled and conducted in order to address outstanding matters between Tehran and Berlin.
